Position Description

Lincoln Land Community College is seeking an experienced professional to join our team as an Instructional Designer reporting to the Dean of Academic Innovation and eLearning.

This position will provide guidance and support to college faculty and subject matter experts in the design and development of innovative and effective instructional materials, tools, and strategies that advance the teaching and learning process.

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate the development and delivery of faculty professional development programs offered to both full-time and adjunct faculty throughout the college district.
  • Instruct and support faculty in the creation and integration of engaging learning activities and compelling course content (technical and non-technical), while applying tested instructional design theories, practices and methods that enhance student retention and transfer.
  • Design, develop and conduct instructional technology and pedagogical training sessions and workshops.
  • Instruct faculty members on best practices for online course design, evaluate completed courses after development, and endorse the implementation of those courses for instruction.
  • Serve as course design consultant to faculty who are designing new or redeveloping existing courses (both traditional and non-traditional delivery).
  • Instruct courses that prepare faculty members to teach online. Approve the certification of successful faculty members to teach online.
  • Act as department liaison to student service departments and provide program support that promotes a successful learner experience.

Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience but will be no less than $50,867 per year with an excellent benefit package.

Position Requirements

Candidates must possess a master’s degree in Instructional Design and Technology or related field.

Candidates must have the following in their background:

  • At least 3 years of experience working in the instructional design/technology field
  • Working knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
  • Previous work experience in higher education
  • College-level teaching or training experience including online teaching/training experience
  • Working with and instructing/training college-level faculty
  • College faculty technology and pedagogical training experience
  • Experience designing, developing and instructing courses using an online learning management system (specifically Blackboard)

To be successful in this position, candidates will need to have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge of current instructional technology tools and applications, as well as internet-based technologies and how they are integrated into both traditional and distance education settings
  • Experience in the design and production of media-based interactive learning objects to be delivered via the internet or through a secondary media source
  • Experience with web design, development and programming using industry standard applications
  • Knowledge of online learning theories and pedagogical practices
  • An understanding of copyright laws and policies and how they relate to college instruction
  • An understanding of current regulations regarding web-based accessibility standards
  • College level student development knowledge
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Project management experience
