Position Description

Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) is currently accepting applications for an Associate Dean-Nursing to provide vision, leadership and administrative oversight for the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) and Practical Care Nursing (PCN) programs.

This position reports directly to the Dean-Health Professions and is responsible for the following essential functions:

  • Direct, support, and in collaboration with the Dean, evaluate nursing program staff. Provide suggestions and support for improving the processes in the nursing programs.
  • Assume responsibility, in collaboration with Dean, for planning, directing and evaluating the nursing programs and keeping curricula current.
  • Develop, monitor, assess and revise the nursing programs’ curricula to ensure compliance with all relevant agency guidelines and highest educational standards.
  • Develop and coordinate partnerships, internships and practicum sites with local health agencies. Maintain community and employer input with semi-annual advisory meetings.
  • Manage, evaluate, and co-produce with faculty and Dean the evaluation of the nursing program’s progress in attaining ICCB/NCA outcome goals.
  • Write in collaboration with Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) and Practical Nursing (PCN) faculty the self-study for the Accrediting Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
  • Provide leadership for ADN and PCN faculty in order to maintain program approval by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
  • Communicate with all members of the nursing programs in a clear and frequent manner regarding information supportive of faculty and staff endeavors and which supports collaborative working relationships.
  • Convene and lead meetings, compose and distribute memos and e-mail, and one-on-one communications.
  • Meet with students, faculty and staff to resolve a variety of programmatic and classroom problems that affect the educational process.
  • Maintain a learning environment consistent with current trends in theory and practice for teaching the traditional and non-traditional learner in a learning college environment.
  • Work with Dean to develop a comprehensive schedule of nursing program classes that meet student needs, maximizes the use of facilities and equipment, is cost effective, and sensitive to the needs of faculty and staff.
  • Maintain positive and cooperative relationships with local, state and national agencies; social services institutions, business and industry; educational institutions; and governmental entities. Maintain community and employer input with semi-annual advisory meetings.
  • Provide oversight for preparation and submission of appropriate program reports for grant-funded programs, accreditation or system reporting. Develop, implement and assess annual programmatic objectives in relation to the college’s planning and budgeting process.
  • Develop materials to be submitted to the college’s Board of Trustees, President and Vice President of Academic Services.
  • Work with the Dean and monitor all program budgets in a fiscally responsible manner. Approve expenditures in accordance with institutional policy and procedures.
  • Serve on and contribute to a variety of committees and college groups that support the operations of the college as well as plan for the college’s future.
  • Develop oneself professionally by attending conferences and workshops, pursuing continuing education, reading journals, attending professional meetings, etc. Attend state meetings for ADN Directors and National Nursing Education meetings as well as other meetings relevant to PCN programs.

Starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience but will be no less than $67,942 per year with an excellent benefit package.

Position Requirements

Minimum requirements for this position include:

  • Master’s degree in nursing
  • Current state license (or the eligibility to obtain one) to practice nursing in the State of Illinois
  • Post-secondary teaching experience and/or relevant work experience (Associate Degree Nursing teaching experience is preferred)
