Position Title TRIO Math Coach
Position Description

Lincoln Land Community College is currently accepting applications for a TRIO Math Coach to provide individual and small group tutoring for TRIO students. The Math Coach will be tasked with guiding and assisting students with homework; instructing students in problem solving and test preparation; encouraging students to develop confidence and academic independence; and provide quality and professional instruction in various math courses, facilitating student learning in accordance with the TRIO Mission.

This position will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Assist students in one-on-one tutorial sessions ranging from developmental mathematics, college algebra and/or statistics
  • Instruct students in problem solving strategies
  • Assess obstacles in students’ understanding of mathematical principles
  • Provide guidance on the application of principles and formulas
  • Develop small group study sessions and promote cooperative learning
  • Help students develop positive attitudes, study habits and skills
  • Communicate effectively with tutees and TRIO Academic Support Specialist and other TRIO staff.
  • Keep track of all tutorial sessions

The person in this position will work 15-20 hours per week and will be paid $9.00 per hour.

The preferred background of the applicant is in mathematics, statistics, accounting, engineering, or the natural sciences. Graduate student and senior undergraduate students will be considered.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen.
