Position Description/Requirements

Lincoln Land Community College is currently accepting applications for Peer Tutors to provide one-on-one tutoring for LLCC students who need academic assistance in their courses.

Peer Tutors will perform the following duties:

  • Facilitate the learning process by helping students to “learn-how-to-learn” course material and to take responsibility for their own learning. This involves helping students develop/refine their study skills/habits and sharpen their reasoning and questioning skills. Tutor sessions should be process-oriented, learner-centered and allow for the active participation of both the tutor and the tutee.

  • Regularly meet with the Student Academic Support Programs (SASP) Coordinator for debrief sessions to (1) discuss observations of the tutoring sessions, (2) discuss the use of a wide variety of learning strategies and (3) notify coordinator about problems or potential problems.
  • Be familiar with other academic support services (Center for Academic Success and around campus).
  • Communicate with course instructors as much as possible; support faculty as the primary source of course information.
  • Complete and submit Tutor Logs, timesheets and other required documents at the end of each work day.
  • Meet with other campus peer tutors and supervisory staff at scheduled meetings.
  • Adhere to the policies that have been established by the Tutor Program.

All LLCC Student Workers have the following institutional responsibilities:
