Position Title Computer Lab Assistant / Java Tutor - Student Worker
Position Description/Requirements

Lincoln Land Community College is seeking Student Workers to assist in the Computer Flex Center. The Center provides student assistance with basic computer skills and applications, web based programs and online class homework assignments.

Lab Assistants will perform the following duties:

  • Assist students with basic computer skills and applications, web based programs, and online class homework assignments
  • Perform routine cleaning and dusting of the computer lab
  • Run errands on campus
  • Assist instructors and perform other related duties as assigned

Lab Assistants will be paid minimum wage and ONLY students eligible for Federal Work Study will be considered for this position.

However, students who have completed CSC 175(Java), completed or are enrolled in CSC 176, and have sufficient knowledge may be asked to be a Java Tutor in addition to their Lab Assistant duties. Java Tutor’s will be paid $9.00 per hour and are NOT required to be eligible for Federal Work Study.

All LLCC Student Workers have the following institutional responsibilities:

  • Uphold LLCC’s mission, as well as certain standards of conduct within the College and in dealings with students, staff, faculty and the general public.
  • Responsible for compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other regulations with regard to confidentiality of and access to student and other institutional records.

Students will be scheduled to work up to 20 hours per week, during lab hours: Monday & Friday 8AM-6PM; Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 8AM-8PM, at the main campus.

Requirements include the following:

  • Must maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours) during the semester of employment, with the exception of summer term
  • Complete LLCC’s mandatory harassment prevention training within 30 days of employment
  • 2.75 GPA minimum
  • Must be knowledgeable of basic computer skills, current operating systems and software applications, as well as Microsoft Office, and Blackboard.

If working with minors, employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
